Bio

As the Operations Manager at Africa's Blockchain Club (ABC), Peter leads efforts to grow blockchain education, innovation, and use across Africa. Since the club started in March 2024, he has been focused on building a strong community that helps people learn the skills they need to succeed in the world of blockchain. Peter’s main goal is to create a community that keeps growing and making a difference, even when he is not around.

At ABC, Peter works with the belief that blockchain can help solve some of Africa’s biggest problems, such as financial access and sustainable development. He manages partnerships and education programs that support this vision, making sure that members not only find job opportunities but also create solutions to problems like poverty, corruption, and climate change.

By using blockchain, Peter helps members take part in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through building projects addressing issues such as fair financial systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Community Building: Creating a friendly and helpful space for members to grow and work together in blockchain.

  • Event Coordination: Working closely with Event Coordinator and Technical Coordinator to organise workshops, hackathons, and competitions to give hands-on learning experiences.

  • Strategic Partnerships: Building relationships with schools and companies like WeThinkCode to help members find jobs or start businesses.

  • Educational Programs: Creating learning opportunities so members can understand and use blockchain effectively.

  • Hackathons and Competitions: Providing chances for members to show their skills, win prizes, and get support for their ideas.

  • Networking: Connecting members with industry professionals to open up career and project opportunities.

  • Grows the community membership a lot in the first year.

  • Hosts more than 10 successful events, helping members learn and improve their skills.

  • Builds strong partnerships, giving members more learning and career chances.

  • Helps members succeed in hackathons, win prizes, and secure spots in incubation programs.

Through these actions, Peter makes sure ABC remains a place for learning about blockchain and a launchpad for startups that aim to solve real-world problems. His goal is to prepare members to help create a better, fairer, just and more sustainable future for Africa using blockchain technology.

Denzel Selokela

Community Manager

Bio

Denzel is the Community Manager at Africa's Blockchain Club(ABC), where he combines his passion for technology with a strategic marketing vision. He leads initiatives that bridge the gap between complex blockchain concepts and accessible education, fostering a community centered around innovation and decentralized technologies in Africa. With a background in software development and blockchain technology, he coordinates technical workshops, hackathons, and events that empower members to build, learn, and engage deeply with Web3.

Denzel drives community outreach and digital engagement, using creative campaigns to increase the club’s visibility and reach across the continent. His dedication to the blockchain movement aligns with the club’s mission to make Africa a global leader in blockchain innovation. He develops impactful outreach strategies, building a vibrant community around decentralized innovation across Africa. He also manages the social media accounts where he crafts compelling narratives, ensuring that Africa's Blockchain Club maintains a strong online presence that fosters engagement.

  • Resource Management: Curate educational resources, including documentation, tutorials, and coding examples, to assist members in skill development.

  • Content Strategy: Develop a social media strategy that aligns with the club's goals and highlights upcoming events, achievements, educational content, and attract new members to the club.

  • Organized High-Impact Workshops: Successfully organized multiple blockchain webinars with Scroll, Avalanche, Netherminds, ICP, GraphQL and hackathons with an average attendance of over 100 participants, resulting in tangible project prototypes and enhanced member skills.

  • Increased Community Engagement: Designed and executed targeted campaigns that grew the club’s membership by 80% in six months, expanding reach across multiple African countries. We are building a community in Kenya, being the first Africa's Blockchain Club(ABC) outside South Africa.

  • Secured Key Partnerships: Established strategic partnerships with prominent blockchain organizations and tech sponsors, securing funding for club events and access to cutting-edge tools and resources. We have a partnership with biptap which supplies cryptocurrencies credit cards that can be used to pay anywhere. We have partnered with WeThinkCode, which is a software engineering training institution.

  • Enhanced Social Media Presence: Grew social media followers from 10 followers to +1990 followers on LinkedIn within six months, leveraging engaging content and interactive posts that boosted the club’s online visibility.

  • Built Brand Awareness: Executed successful brand awareness campaigns that positioned Africa's Blockchain Club as a leading voice for blockchain education and community in Africa, drawing attention from international audiences and collaborators.

Maite Lemekoana

Events Co-ordinator

Bio

As the Finance Manager and Events Coordinator at Africa’s Blockchain Club (ABC), Maite plays a pivotal role in managing financial operations and ensuring the smooth execution of events. In the capacity as Finance Manager, Maite oversees budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to support ABC’s initiatives. She ensures financial sustainability by meticulously managing expenses, identifying funding opportunities, and maintaining clear financial records. Her keen attention to detail helps streamline financial processes while maximizing cost efficiency.

In addition to handling financial responsibilities, Maite leads event coordination for ABC. She is responsible for planning and executing events, working closely with partners, and team members to select venues, arrange logistics, and ensure all supplies are in place for successful events. Her expertise ensures well-organized, impactful gatherings that advance ABC’s mission.

As the head of Africa’s Blockchain Club for the Ladies, Maite dedicated to empowering and inspiring women in the Web3 space. Through a range of initiatives, workshops, and networking events, she fosters a supportive community that encourages women to explore and thrive in blockchain technology.

Lethabo Mokoena

Logistics Manager

Bio

As the Logistics Manager at Africa's Blockchain Club (ABC), Lethabo handles important tasks to ensure smooth operations. She is responsible for managing travel plans and overseeing resources. Lethabo plans and executes events, which includes selecting venues, coordinating with vendors, and setting up the events.

Lethabo works to improve processes and find ways to save costs. She researches grants and funding opportunities that align with ABC’s mission, writes proposals, and gathers the necessary documents for funding. Lethabo also makes sure that all grant requirements are met.

In addition, Lethabo supports team collaboration and helps ABC grow through careful planning and management of resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel Management: Overseeing travel plans for team members, ensuring smooth logistics for trips and events.

  • Event Planning and Execution: Collaborating closely with the event coordinator on planning and executing events, including venue selection, vendor coordination, setup, and ensuring that all supplies, like food and materials, are in order for a successful event.

  • Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to streamline processes and find cost-saving measures to enhance efficiency.

  • Grant Research and Proposal Writing: Researching grants, and funding opportunities aligned with ABC’s mission, writing proposals, and gathering necessary documentation for funding applications.

  • Compliance Management: Ensuring all grant requirements are met and keeping track of deadlines and compliance details.

  • Team Support and Collaboration: Facilitating communication and resource management among team members to support collaboration and overall growth of ABC.

Key Achievements:

  • Since joining in April 2024 Lethabo has successfully managed logistics for events, working closely with the event coordinator to ensure everything from food to materials was organised, leading to successful and well-attended gatherings.

  • Played a key role in improving event planning processes, contributing to a more efficient setup and execution.

  • Identified and implemented cost-saving measures that enhanced resource allocation without compromising quality.

  • Secured funding opportunities through well-crafted proposals, contributing to the financial sustainability of ABC.

  • Fostered a collaborative team environment that improved coordination and support for ABC’s initiatives.
